Casa Latina’s Business Blogger Bootcamp

November 26, 2014 by Mikelah Leave a Comment

Casa Latina Business Blogger Bootcamp

Casa Latina & Blogher’s Business Blogger Bootcamp was great! I like attending a variety of conferences, you can receive great information from bloggers outside of your niche. Being so closely related to the Latino market, with regards to cultural similarities and having a multi-cultural demographic; I found it reinvigorating getting to know new bloggers, brands and learning the Latino perspective (multi language, various niches etc.) The Casa Latina Business Blogger Bootcamp had four panels related to content, sponsorship and branding from a blog entrepreneur perspective. The panelist varied across industries and niches within that Latino lifestyle realm, the conference focused how bloggers can continue to elevate their business, even in a crowded space. The running theme was finding your voice and being consistent, which is how most great bloggers seem grow their business and influence. I have the voice down, it’s the consistency that I lack, but I’m hoping to get better over the next few weeks. Here were some key ideas the made me continue to think about how I want to grow in the future.

  1. Don’t lose out on an opportunity because you didn’t follow up.
  2. Brands aren’t saying you’re not good, you’re just not good for them.
  3. Everything you do adds to your credibility, being multifaceted is good, but make sure it aligns with your brand.
  4. It’s the relationships that get you the projects.
  5. Think of the three C’s when it comes to blogging: Clarity, Consistency and Constancy. And the three R’s: Revenue, Reputation and Recognition.
  6. Develop your niche, but allow yourself the opportunity to expand.

Fellow Caribbean Lifestyle Blogger Kerry-Ann of Carry on Friends also attending the Casa Latina Business Blogger Bootcamp. We took a break to eat some empenadas from this Empanada food truck. We also walked around the Casa Latina Home Expo upstairs. They even had a nice blogger lounge for us to hang out!
