Vibes Album Review: Jah Cure’s Royal Soldier

September 11, 2019 by Mikelah 1 Comment

Jah Cure’s Royal Soldier hits all the notes of a classic reggae album with melodic sounds. With each song having a clear baseline foundation infused with Dub, R&B, Jazz, Dancehall and R&B. Equally Reggae and Lover’s Rock, it was exciting to hear Jah Cure explores new range with ease.

Listening to the album, you can visualize Jah Cure performing the songs, the sounds of the bass, drums and saxophones as Jah Cure’s voice melts into the foreground as the lead instrument, lightly sprinkled with effects at just the right moments.  Royal Soldier includes features from artists like Damian Marley, Torey Lanez, Melanie Fiona, Mya and more, all who compliment the confidence of the singer’s vocals.

Love, life and a little marijuana sums up the lyrical content of the songs, but each song is crafted with a unique flavor with some traditional Jah Cure vibes like “Don’t Walk Away” and “Risk it All,” but it’s the new sounds where Jah Cure shines “Pretty Face”, “Telephone Love”, “Eyes on Your Body” and “Magic” with light touches R&B, Hip-Hop and Dancehall.

The album never strays away from Jah Cure’s Reggae tone, but the music and production explore new sounds that make Royal Soldier a great album to listen to beginning to end.
