5 Takeaways from Triple the Focus’ Ladies Who Brunch

LadiesWhoBrunch

Triple the Focus’ Ladies Who Brunch is always a great time. Networking in person is very important, but these days I have been selective with the events I attend just due re-evaluating how I spend my time (more on that in future post.) The brunch was sponsored by COCOTIQUE, SoCo Brooklyn Restaurant and Voga Italia wine and jewelry vendor Pieces NY. Creator of COCOTIQUE Dana Hill shared her story about her career path, passion for beauty and starting her business. Dana wasn’t the only one dropping jewels of knowledge, the ladies in attendance all shared a great deal. We all took away so much wisdom from each other. Here are my top five quotes that stuck with me.

“There’s nothing you can’t learn. Google everything!” – Dana Hill owner of COCOTIQUE

If I truly want to learn how to do something, I do the research. I’m a researcher by nature, but I sometimes get so bombarded with the amount of information that’s available that I tend to throw in the towel due to the volume. Problem is, the information is stuck in my head and I feel like an idiot when I don’t take the information that I’ve learned and put it to good use.

“Reset your mind mentally every day” – Jamie Alleyne-Morris of Jay Blessed Media

Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about my mind and being conscious of how overwhelmed it can be. I’ve even been researching and tried meditation, practice makes perfect though, so I’m being patient. I’ve also started to let go of the idea of multi-tasking. I truly feel it’s counter productive and rather than devoting my energy to the one thing I’m doing at the time, I feel more scattered physically and mentally.

“Don’t watch what people have, you don’t know what they’re going through” Stacey Bethel EIC of Triple the Focus

We have all done this at some point and we should not! Personally, when I spend too much time focusing on what some one else has, it’s really a reflection of what I don’t. Practicing being appreciative of what you have continuously is a

“If you look like you always have it together, you’ll never receive help” Kerry-Ann Reid-Brown, Carry on Friends

Asking for help is one of my biggest hurdles in my life. I’m always trying to DIY rather than ask for help, because I naturally want control everything rather than share the responsibilities. It’s something that I’m actively working on, because I can’t do everything myself. Wanting to be a good leader is also about effectively delegating and communicating my vision for others to assist me in achieving my goals.

“A vision board is great, but what are the step you’re taking to get there” Felicia Walker Benson This That Beauty

This one is pretty self explanatory. Goals and visions are nothing but dreams if I don’t a step by step action plan.
