Top 5 Bob Marley Songs

February 6, 2014 by Mikelah Leave a Comment

Happy Birthday Bob Marley! To honor the musical legend on his earthstrong, I put together my top 5 songs from his catalog.  Bob Marley has such an amazing musical legacy with songs that have transcended generations beyond  his untimely death. What is amazing about the material of his music is that his songs are simple, classic reggae with lyrical messages ranging from love to race relations, political injustices and ideals for equality. His overall message of bringing people together, regardless of differences, through music remain true even until this day. (I’ve never heard a Bob Marley song play and everyone not sing or at the very least  enjoy the music.)

  1. “Get Up Stand Up” – People aren’t necessary going to give you what you deserve, this song is a reminder to stand up for myself and other in the vain of righteousness.

2. “War” –  People are constantly at odds with regards to race and skin color, it’s a continuous battle that should be fought until we look at the person, their situation and NOT their skin color.

3. “Who The Cap Fit” – Just a reminder, not everyone is trustworthy or worthy of your friendship.

4. “Natural Mystic” – to me this song is about faith and hope, regardless of suffering. The natural mystic is that moment you feel a little different about your outlook even though you know you may have to endure a few more hardships.

5. “Waiting in Vain” – My favorite love song! Patiently waiting, because he/she is the right one is just a beautiful sentiment.
