Usher, Ele & Chris Brown at Reggae Sumfest 2010

29 Jul

There was a lot of twitter excitement over Reggae Sumfest 2010 performances this year.  Vybz Kartel showed up in a jail suit, Bounty Killer was honored and Beenie Man reunited on stage with his wife D’Angel. I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t find some better video footage online of Sumfest 2010, but here are a few that were audible. Chris Brown was a pair of Clarks away from looking like a real Yardie when he took the stage with Elephant Man and Usher for a mini dance segment. I love that Usher and Chris both embraced a few dances (Gully Creepa, Sweep etc. ) Peep the dance off below.

Vybz Kartel was released from jail and headed straight to Sumfest.

“Billionaire” by Travie McCoy

24 Jun

This is one of my favorite songs right now! Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars (also on the hook of BoB’s “Nothing on You“) expresses the thrill and aspirations of being a billionaire. This song covers so many musical genres (reggae, r&b, hip hop etc.) and I love the lyrics, they’re fun an playful…c’mon who doesn’t want to be a billionaire?

S&V Video Round Up

14 May

Drake’s “Find Your Love” premiered on radio just a few weeks after, but now we know what he was doing in Jamaica. Mavado makes a cameo as “the badman”. Pretty sure you can figure how it ends.

Gyptian is steady climbing up the Billboard charts with “Hold Yuh”. Nothing special about the video, but love the song none the less.

Alicia Keys delivers a great video concept with “Unthinkable” featuring Chad Michael Murray as her love interest. I love that the message of interracial relationships crossing various time periods.

Diddy & ‘em Dirty Money release a video for “Hello, Goodmorning”, but it’s a huge yawn.

Why Did I Get Married Too Review

5 Apr

Many movie sequels exceed expectations or seriously fall short. For Why Did I Get Married Too, this movie fell into the latter category for many reasons. Without spoiling it for those who have not seen it yet ,what peeved me the most was the under developed storyline, cheesy lines and over exaggerations at the wrong moments and the cheating wife that got off way too easily!

In my humble opinion, each of these couples have intricate stories that we do not get to see. Granted it’s hard to touch on every detail of the couple’s relationship in a 2-hour time span, but the plot seemed all too rushed. Perhaps a TV show spin off would have done more justice, similarly to Soul Food. (more…)

New Video: Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)

Yes. Finally. Usher, this is what I love to see. MTV premiered Usher’s new video Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home) directed by Chris Robinson today. The song is hot, the video…even hotter. I love that it’s not the cookie cutter dancing in club you’d typically see from Usher on upbeat songs. Even more, I like how the video tells a story of how he balances his career and personal life. The video is a great snapshot of what we can expect from Raymond vs Raymond slated to drop the end of March.
