Fashion fades, style is eternal.

Trends are not for everybody. When it comes to personal my personal style I wear what looks good on my body type, but there are just some trends that I don’t understand, nor will I ever try:
1.) Leggings with Holes – I’m not really sure what’s going on with these. They look like stockings with permanent runs. It reminds me of an old Caribbean saying “Ya socks begging bread” as in only bum’s beg bread and you look like a bum! I have yet to see anyone where them with style.

2.) Sneaker Heels – What’s with that! Sneakers are meant to be sneakers. Fly, comfortable kicks. This is just all wrong in so many ways!

3.) Shutter Shades – Commonly associated with Kanye West. Note to people who wear them “You’re not Kanye!” We know you can’t see through them so why do you have them on in the club, walking down the street and in the coffee shop (Yes. I’ve seen them everywhere!).

I’ve never been one to rock all black ANYTHING! Growing all black is for bank robbers, stage hands and funerals.
Fashionably speaking, black is synonymous with classic. Think about all the fashion statements surrounding the color black: “Everything looks good in black”, “(Insert Color here) is the new Black”, “The Little Black Dress”. I’ve also learned that rocking all black is about blending textures without looking drab. And we all know how much New Yorkers loveĀ to wear all black, it’s the uniform statement the exudes strength and a certain confidence.
My latest polyvore layout is inspired by Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” — here as some of my new favorites:

Every Summer I look for a reason to go shopping! Shopping economically of course is the way to go during this recession so I’m always looking items that can be worn with multiple outfits. I’m a comfortable meets chic kinda girl that loves great accessories to dress up or dress down any outfit. As it warms up these are a few of the items on my wish list for my sizzlin’ summer.
1. Flat sandals – Flats are perfect for long walks while enjoying a day out. I still love the gladiator sandal and this nude color is perfect for multiple outfits. ( Ninewest , $69.99)

2. Tote – Picking a bright summery color that’s bold enough to make a statement and if you’re anything like me it can fit all your gadgets and then some on a daily basis. ( Forever 21 , $32.80)

3. Straw Hat – Straw hats are a classic, timeless accessory. Not only does it protect you from the sun but it give a chic look on any day. Not to mention looks great with curly or straight hair! ( Urban Outfitters , $28.00)
