8 Jun

Summer time in NYC means getting out to enjoy festivals, food and music concerts (many of them free, if you know where to look). Simple, no fuss attire is a must when you’re outdoors for a long period of time. What’s for favorite summer piece for long days in the sun?

Style: All Black Everything

13 Oct

I’ve never been one to rock all black ANYTHING! Growing all black is for bank robbers, stage hands and funerals.

Fashionably speaking, black is synonymous with classic. Think about all the fashion statements surrounding the color black: “Everything looks good in black”, “(Insert Color here) is the new Black”, “The Little Black Dress”. I’ve also learned that rocking all black is about blending textures without looking drab. And we all know how much New Yorkers love  to wear all black, it’s the uniform statement the exudes strength and a certain confidence.

My latest polyvore layout is inspired by Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” — here as some of my new favorites:

Shakira’s Secrets…$3,000!

14 Feb

Wednesday, February 13th 2008,

shakira-auction.jpgMEXICO CITY – What’s one of Shakira’s bras worth?

Try $3,000, which is what one fan forked over.

Another admirer shelled out $14,000 for the privilege of meeting the Colombian pop sensation and receiving front-row seats at a future show in Toronto.

The two bids were among the highest offered for 40 items that Shakira donated to an Internet auction for her Bare Feet Foundation, which is building a school for impoverished children in northern Colombia.

Another popular item: a shiny lavender skirt with turquoise-and-coral beading that she wore while singing “Hips Don’t Lie.” That fetched more than $1,000.

The items were from Shakira’s 2007 “Oral Fixation” tour.

Still up for grabs until Sunday: an electric Fender guitar and an acoustic Taylor guitar, both bearing the 31-year-old singer’s autograph.

The auction has raised $76,000.

“It was a phenomenal success,” said Eric Gazin, president of Auction Cause. “We had bidders from 10 countries.”
