Creator of Carol’s Daughter Lisa Price sat down with sat down with the new faces of the brand, Solange, Cassie and Selita Ebanks, to talk about “Good Hair”.  At first I thought “Oh no…not this again” but the girls have an interesting discussion about hair as expression rather than a social statement. I love Price’s opinion that each woman should do what’s comfortable for them whether that’s natural or relaxed. Healthy hair is “Good Hair” in my opinion and these ladies were perfectly chosen to represent Carol’s Daughter and their the variety of products for women of color,  with a multi-ethnic background.

Beauty queen Yendi Phillipps sheds her luscious locks for charity. Yendi donated her hair to Locks of Love which creates wigs for kids with a medical reason for losing their hair. She seems to be a very philanthropic person and it looks great on her…wonder what products she’s going to use on this new ‘do.

Bajan beauty and international superstar Rihanna has rocked a number of fierce looks. She continues to push style button, (some we love, some not so much) always fashion forward and makes her looks seem effortless. Rocking a number of different hair style over the last view years with varying lengths and colors; we’re always excited to see what Rihanna’s going to do next. Which Rihanna look is your favorite?

Fresh off of Pon di Replay success the blonde whimsical waves seem fitting for her island vibe.

The dramatic cut. This was the first time we saw Rihanna’s sleek bold black bob which she cut off for her Good Girl Gone Bad single debut Umbrella.

As the bob grew out she rock flirty curls.

When we thought she wouldn’t go any shorter, she chops it off into a cute face framing cropped look.

A little shorter, with a touch of color and pulled away from the frame of her face.

Do blonde’s have more fun? Her Rated R look got people talking.

Loud and Fire Red! I color I never anticipated from her, but the unexpected surprise was I kind of love it.

Even since this look, she has change her hair yet again, but this one is one of my favorites.

I recently bought a new round brush that I love! Blowing out my hair can be an all day ordeal , but with the weather getting a little cooler having it straight for the week is a little easier. Conair’s Gel Brush is great! The gel grip around the handle is what makes the brush excellent because it doesn’t slip between my fingers  I was able to get more sections of my hair straight without my hands aching.

I recently (recent as in 2 months ago) cut my hair into a long bob, I knew it would look great straight, but had to admit I wasn’t sure how my curls would look, even though I’ve cut it shorter for “the chop” when officially went natural about 5 years ago. I have to say that I’m totally in love with my shorter hair, curly and straight. I have been rocking the curls most of the summer because the humidity and straight hair don’t mix (even when I had a relaxer it didn’t work so well). However, I do straightening when getting it cut or trimmed especially since I finally found a stylist whom I trust.

I’m a fanatic when it comes to two things: hair and shoes. Both have to be perfect when I step out of the door or else my day is just all wrong. I often make suttle changes to my ‘do by adding a head band, pin up or pull back, but my all out ‘fro is my absolute favorite. I wash using Pantene Relaxed & Natural Shampoo and Conditioner. I then put a healthy amount of Garnier Frutis Leave-in Conditioning Cream.

I then use Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding and coil hair around my finger in about 2-inch sections. I usually airdry, but you can opt to sit under the dryer. Once completely dry (a little dampness is ok) I’ll seperate and fluff. This look will last about 3-4 days before it starts to look a little raggedy, but the process is pretty easy and not as time consumer, so this is my “go-to” look regularly.

I’ve heard great things about Kimble products, but like many “good” products you end up buying, sometimes they don’t work for your hair and end up taking up shelf space in the closet. I tend to try new hair products all the time (I’m adamant about having every hair in place!) Target recently had a sale on beauty products and I was excited to try  Kimble’s Bounce Back Revitalizer.

I applied the gel after Pantene Shampoo & Conditioner and Garnier Frutis leave-in-condidtion.  This is the finished look, wet. I tend to like soft curls that move when fully dry, gels tend leave the “stiff” effect, but  not this time. It gave my hair a slight shine with only a slight stiff hold. I loved that my curls shined and moved effortlessly when it dried. The light citrus smell was not overwhelmingly fragrant, in fact it wore off after a while. The Kimble Bounce Back Revitalizer worked great, I would definitely buy again.

I come across a lot of black hair blogs, mostly for natural hair, when I’m looking for new ways to style my own hair. With all the talk surrounding black hair lately, especially with Chris Rock’s Good Hair buzz, I came across — and LOVED this photo-blog called Le Coil. Can’t really call it the Cassie effect since she cut her hair before Cassie. Don’t think I’m a fan of this one though.
